health & medical costs

meet their basic needs
- Families who need temporary help due to loss
of employment, illness, car repairs, etc.

From the homeless to senior citizens to our rural farming and ranching communities,
Community Food Banks of South Dakota are reaching out across our community and state to meet the needs of the hungry.
Being so sparsely populated, South Dakota faces the challenge of getting food to those in need. Through the advent of a rural delivery system, we are able to get quality food into the hands of those
who need it in our most remote areas.
We are in a state where the number-one industry is agriculture, yet we find a growing number of farm and ranch communities where the need for assistance is on the increase. From the food producers themselves to the small-town businesses and employees, the drought conditions have hit hard an already struggling industry.
With a large population of very proud senior citizens, many of whom are on fixed incomes, the need for assistance continues to climb. Rising health care and prescription drug costs have caused many of these individuals to choose between paying bills and buying food.
At the Community Food Banks of South Dakota, our goal has been and always will be to do all that we can to help in the fight against hunger in South Dakota.
