Our community food pantries in Sioux Falls and Rapid City
provide emergency food to local individuals and families in need of food assistance.
We partner with area churches, social services agencies and
assistance programs to meet the basic food needs of individuals
and families in crisis situations. These city-wide networks of referral agencies direct clients to the pantry
to receive a 3-5 day supply of food for them and their family
from community donations and food drives. Each distribution of
food is nutritionally balanced and carefully chosen by the
recipient family for their particular needs.
Our services are open to all who need emergency food supplies
and have no other way to obtain them. Over 25 families receive
emergency food supplies each day at the Sioux Falls Food Pantry.
In 2005, the Sioux Falls pantry provided over 375,000 pounds of food and grocery supplies to nearly 15,000 individuals in need of assistance. The pantry in Rapid City provided nearly 200,000 pounds of food and grocery supplies to over 9,000 individuals in need of food assistance.
