Community food drives in Rapid City and Sioux Falls provide us
with critical need items that are distributed through our food pantry
operations directly to South Dakota individuals and families.
A food and/or fund drive is a great charitable opportunity for businesses, schools, churches and other organizations.
Food industry retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers
and distributors donate grocery items to Community Food Banks of South Dakota to support our mission.
Food Donation Connection assists in providing an alternative to discarding excess safe unsold food by linking food service donors to agencies administering programs which help the hungry.
These food donations from Sioux Falls and Rapid City-area restaurants, mainly pre-cooked
protein that requires only reheating, go directly to the Food
Pantry.

You can multiply your hunger impact with tax-deductible monetary donations to
the Community Food Banks of South Dakota.
Ninety-nine cents of every dollar we receive goes directly to
providing food to South Dakotans in need.
While food donations are always welcome, your donated dollars can be stretched even farther.

If you purchase two boxes of cereal for $5 and donate them to the Food Pantry, we receive two boxes of cereal. But if you donate $5 directly to the Food Pantry,
we can turn that into 50 boxes of cereal. $10 can feed a family
of four for 3-5 days!
Charity Navigator ranks the Community Food Banks of South
Dakota as a four-star charity. We spend less money to raise more and devote the
majority of our spending on our programs and services, and our consistent growth and
flexibility make us likely to last for years to come.

One of the most precious commodities in our modern world is
time.
We have an ongoing project for groups of 20-25 people. Duties include boxing food for the Senior Box Program, a national program designed to give low-income
seniors a box of food each month. The time commitment is at least 2 hours with a maximum of 4 hours.
We can use volunteers occasionally, monthly, on evenings and
weekends. This opportunity is open to individuals 13 and up,
families, small and large groups, and as a court-appointed
community service.
If you are interested in volunteering your time to the Community
Food Banks of South Dakota, please contact at (605) 335-0364, ext. 20. |
